About me

After 34 years as a secondary educator and counselor, I retired to my passions--quilting, horses, travel, gardening, reading, and most important--my family!  My husband, a writer, and I have 2 grown children and 3 grandboys.  Living in the country allows me to "hide" in my 2 sewing rooms for hours on end.

My Design Philosophy

Like many of you, my Mom taught me to sew.  As an adult, I wanted to take up quilting, but in the 1980's the only patterns I could find required lots of scissor work--definitely not for me.  I thought the only quilt I would ever make was a doll quilt in 3rd grade for a lesson on Westward Expansion. Then in 2010 I found that the Miami County Quilters Guild(Kansas) offered 18 hours of beginner quilting instructions for the price of an annual membership.  I joined the class, the Guild and have never looked back!

What draws me to a quilt and makes me want to TOUCH it are the colors and the texture.  Someone once asked me whether I like piecing the quilt or quilting it better.  I like both---piecing lets me play with color and quilting on my Gammill long arm lets me layer on texture.
