Back from the MQS Showcase in Wichita
Saw some amazing quilts at the MQS Showcase in Wichita last week. Both the piecing and the quilting were awe inspiring. Took some great classes, too. The one that I had "homework" in was the Gammill maintenance class with Rick Taylor--came home and gave my machine a thorough cleaning. And feel like, with the CD he sent us home with, I could tackle some of the things that typically need maintenance.
And the quilting classes with both Linda Taylor and DeLoa Jones provided the inspiration for this lovely quilt by customer, Nancy C. I'm still marveling that this is her beginner class quilt--she did a great job picking fabrics and her piecing is meticulous. We had talked about an edge-to-edge, but once I saw her wonderful applique, I just had to do some custom quilting. I always have a favorite block when I do a sampler quilt. With Nancy's, I'm really liking the Grandmother's flower garden and the split rail--which I did very modern.
Been very busy on customer quilts cause I'm wanting to put some time in on the Bonnie Hunter Celtic Solstice quilt I'm working on for me! Plus need to get the garden started soon.
The Celtic Solstice quilt has me thinking zucchinis, pumpkins, yellow coreopsis and blue delphiniums. Hmmmmm...I might need to start another quilt so I start thinking tomatoes, peppers, beans, cantalopes, cauliflower and watermelon!
