Trying to Catch up!
Whew--the last few weeks have just zoomed by! I've gotten back on the long arm quilting frame. First a charity panto and then my (finally!) finished Bonnie Hunter Celtic Solstice! That's it pictured. It will go onto my own bed--amazingly, don't have a quilt on my own bed yet! (still needs binding)
Still rehabbing my knee, I decided to invest in a drafting stool to use at the quilting frame. So the next step was to try that out on a charity quilt and now on a customer quilt (you'll see a picture of it once it's finished!). I was especially relieved that using rulers while I was sitting was no problem. I am still trying to figure out how to keep the "brakes" off of the wheels--I keep accidently kicking them on when I get on/off the stool.
Besides quilting for myself and others, I'm co-teaching a beginner's quilt class for Miami Co. Quilters Guild--what a bunch of talented, enthusiatic quilters! So far they've done rail fence (strip sets), Sarah's Choice (HST and flying geese), drunkard's path (circular seams); learned about fabric and color choices, pressing, nesting seams, handquilting, and achieving that all elusive 1/4" seam! Next up: applique techniques, an easy pineapple block, sashings and borders, and preparing for quilting. We are having a great time and especially enjoy potlucking with the more advanced class (which I'm a student of) that meets in the afternoons.
