Feeling like summer!
After a weather weird Spring, I think that summer is actually here! And I'm almost ready! My hubbie and I have been hustling getting garden work (not the routine stuff--the stuff that involves a shovel, tiller and lots of dirt!) and getting the deck and porch cleaned and stained. Today we are done --yea! Of course, I can hardly move right now-thank goodness for Aleve.
Though busy with customer quilts, graduation T-shirt quilts, and the Miami Co. Quilters Guild Veterans' Quilts of Appreciation, I did finally get this Gemini Sky mystery quilt quilted. It's only taken a year--think that the slowness was partly due to my disappointment in the "background" fabric being almost exclusively in the border. I really liked the print and chose to "echo" the fun flower medallions in the border quilting. Even while working on it in class I was calling it "Merlot Summer"--the eggplant color and sun-bleached green reminded me of the many wineries in the county. And the sky blue and fun white print reminded me of summer. With that name, the quilting just had to be "grapes", leaves and sunshine!
Like all of you, I have so many projects calling to me that I'm not sure where to start. First up is a couple of table toppers--one for a friend and one for the Quilt Guild show boutique. And then on to Christmas things--tree skirts and wall hangings, and maybe some stockings? Every year I swear I will get the Christmas items going before November--this year I'm more motivated as I'm trying to work a business relationship with a local tree grower. Keep quilting!!
