Aren't Quilters Just the Nicest People!?
I've known from the start of my quilting adventure that quilters are just the nicest and most generous folks around--but just another example hit home recently. Jenny, at the Lil' Red Hen Quilt Shop and I decided that a sample quilt was just screaming out "Steampunk!" and needed some gears, etc. for the quilting. When I mentioned to my friend Kathy that I was looking for a stencil/panto/pattern to use that had gears but without real success, she said "no worry--I've seen some recently and I'll find them on the internet and send you the link tomorrow". Before noon, she'd done just that!
Of course the one I liked the most was only in digital format and sad to say, I don't have a computer on my Gammill. So I emailed the designer, Karen Farnsworth of Wildflower Quilting and asked if there was a way I could purchase it in paper format. No, Karen said it wasn't in paper format, but gave me the ok and sent the pdf file to me, to work on making up my own paper format panto! So all you quilters that have computers on your machine, check out Karen's designs at Wildflower Quilting--she deserves your business! What a wonderfully generous business woman. Thank you Karen!
I have several projects midway through completion. I have a show publicity quilt (pictured) on the frame, a Christmas tree skirt on the landing stairwell waiting for quilting, another tree skirt being piecd, and a customer T-shirt quilt on the design wall. So what am I doing on the computer ??
UPDATE: 6/2/14 A little after midnight last night we were hit by a mini-tornado/microburst/?? The result was waking up at 6am this morning and finding that our 3 yr old, 3 bay garage/shop had the roof, trusses and some walls ripped apart. And then there were the 3 vintage vehicles housed there...but the good news is no person or animal hurt, the house is in good shape (including the quilting studio!) and despite the electricity being on to the shop and the wiring being ripped out, we did have a fire to deal with! So life is good.
