Steampunked!

Here it is--the quilt that Karen Farnsworth generously gave me the pdf file and permission to use her digital "Cogs" panto to quilt! I don't think Karen has anything to worry about from me becoming a panto designer--it was hard work getting it printed, together and figuring out the pathway. At one point I was channeling my teen years from 12-20 working on my Dad's drafting board; I even had his old T-square out trying to make sure I was getting my enlarged copies all square. Karen's panto was very well laid out to follow without lots of backtracking--a concern she said may be a problem with digital panto used with hand guided long arms. That being said--it was tricky to keep a steady "hand" with the gears--lots of corners!

I have a customer T-shirt quilt about finished--having a friend do an embroidery block to add to it and then the borders and ready for the quilting frame. So...maybe I'll have time to work on some of my own things? Hmmm...always seems when I'm about to that point, something pops up!

One nice thing has been nice, steady rain at our house. So no need to be watering the garden and the temps have been cool--so saving on A/C too! Of course all that rain that is making the garden flourish is also making the the weeds grow like, well, weeds! As soon as it dries out some, I need to do some weeding, plus there is pasture to be mowed, too. We move forward on our rebuild from the storm damage last week--it's a slow process but contractor has been arranged and re-build permits are the next step.

We are headed to Omaha soon for a visit with our son and his family. I think it will include a visit to a fabric store to pick out the newest g-son (expected in Nov) quilt fabric and the oldest wants some pirate clothes for when he visits us later--he's coming for VBS and the theme is "Treasure Island"! Argh!
