Lost among my quilts!
So long since my last post! Since then my daughter got married(she looked beautiful and the wedding was great); my son's youngest turned 1 yr (both occurred last Friday!) and I'm madly getting ready for the Miami Co. Quilters Guild's annual show next weekend. Whew!
I've been spending long hours on the long arm, both with my own (last minute) and customer quilts (also last minute on their part!) getting them ready for the show. And hours too late at night doing the handwork on the bindings. Have one more top to quilt and finish. It's the top that was made from the antique bowtie blocks bought at an estate sale. But first I have to wash with Restoration to get the "yellow" out---hope this works. Last thing to do is sleeves and labels. A friend suggested that I use the computer printer and special fabric plus freezer paper to do the labels-if it works, sure sounds like a winner!
New knee in 7 weeks! Having been through this before, I know that I will be "down" to some degree for about 2 months--so will be finishing customer quilts and Christmas presents for family before then. Luckily,I have a quilt retreat in early Oct,so should get some solid sewing time. My Christmas work includes 2 tree skirts (one sewn already), a bed quilt(done-pictured
), a lap quilt(sewn), and a table topper. What is everyone else making for Christmas??
Been watching the PBS special on the Roosevelts while sewing binding. So here's my favorite Eleanor Roosevelt quote: "A woman is like a tea bag--you can't tell how strong she is until you put her in hot water".
