New Year, new work!
After what for me is an annual Christmas rush, it's 2016! And it's going to be a great year--especially when it comes to quilting and my health. 2015 was fraught with health crud for me----seems it was one thing after another. But I'm determined that this year is going to be a healthier year for me--and toward that end, I am working on changing my eating habits. Notice I said "working on..." cause I know that it's a process. So bring on the veggies!
As far as quilting, I've hit the ground running. Besides several customer quilts, I'm working on a baby quilt that my friend Jenny will use as a free pattern for her LQS shop hop in April. Sorry--you don't get to see it until then! Besides that, I'm gearing up to co-teach my Guild's beginner classes starting on Jan. 16th. Last year we had 16 students--we already have 24-25 (the number seems to grow daily) students signed up. My co-teacher and I are very happy about the increase of numbers but also scrambling to check that irons, mats, instructional notebooks, teaching display boards, etc are all ready. Let's me keep a hand in my educator roots!
Now, a little funny story on me. My personal Santa (hubbie) gave me the only thing on my wish list--an Accuquilt Go BIG! for Christmas. With the strip bundle I decided that having our beginner students take several pairs of 2.5" squares to check their 1/4" seam the first class would be a great homework assignment. I was grabbing any scraps sitting around on my cutting table or my sewing table and running them through the Go--it's spectacular! Only 2 days later when I was looking for the striped fabric for the shop hop baby quilt did I realize it had also been fed through the Go! Works great! But a lesson here--pay attention to what fabric you grab. Happy quilting in 2016!
