Getting ready for 2017!

Like all of you, I'm in that frantic stage of prepping for Christmas--but seeing the gift gathering almost done. Right now I'm working on these Christmas stockings for my kids and their families. This is the Michael Miller "coloring book" fabric I showed you earlier this Fall. After coloring it with my Inktense Colored Pencils (and aloe)I put the yardage on the long arm and quilted around the motifs. I used a poly bat for 2 reasons--I wanted more quilting definition and did not want to use wool due to expense. After quilting, the next step was to cut out the stocking shape and do the same for the backs. I had been stalling on this project because I did not want to have unfinished seams. But thanks to my quilt buddy, Becky M, I decided to put the seams on the outsides and finish with bias binding.

Next steps are the cutting of the applique names and application of them to the cuff. Then to attach the cuff to the stocking. My goal is to have all 7 stockings finished by the weekend.

P.S. I've finally gotten a FACE BOOK page for Middle Creek Quilts. I know--late to the social media "game"--but I'd rather quilt than computer!
