(Almost) Finished Mason Jar Quilt

Happy New Year! Wanted to let all of you know that saw the "green pokies" after my failed experiment with using Press & Seal and a marker to lay out a quilt design--it's finished!

Once I got all the stitches, picked out the bits of Press & Seal, and soaked out the Crayola Ultra Clean marker spots, I decided that free hand quilting was the solution.

This is the result! I used an added layer of wool bat on top of the Hobbs 80/20 bat in the area of the gingham pinwheels and the embroidery blocks. Flange border trim are always interesting, they tend to stick up wonkily unless you "stitch-in-the-ditch" next to them.

This whole quilt spoke "super traditional, quaint" to me---so I kept the quilting to traditional cross hatching on parts of the border and the block background, orange peels on the pinwheels, and tight wishbones in the white border. On the border I used freehand florals to frame the corners and then crosshatching between the corners. I think this wonderful collaboration turned out great!

Next up: finishing those memory quilts, getting them quilted and as soon as the huge SoFine thread order gets here--working on my whole cloth quilt! Can't wait on that one!
