So much has happened!
Can't believe it's been almost 2 months since I posted! This summer has been a whirlwind--and the schedule for August doesn't look like it''s slower.
The 2017 KCRQF was great! The Miami Co. Quilters Guild hung over 700 quilts in record time--and 4 days later took them down at an even a faster pace! Our vendor booth did very well too and several members received ribbons on their quilts hung in the Guild Displays. Plus I took some wonderful classes. Tia Curtis' class on Welsh Borders was great--can't wait to try out the design techniques on a scrappy quilt of mine real soon. And Jamie Wallen's class on using dressed up continuous curves in a grid pattern to quilt a multitude of designs looks like it will be helpful giving me some 'bread & butter" quilt ideas.. My last class was with Jackie Kunkel, using a Judy Niemeyer pattern. Wow--it was a 7 hr long class and i was feeling pretty darn good to finish 1 & 1/2 blocks! I haven't gotten back to that project yet--may need to be bumped down the list until winter.
My daughter took 3 classes also and while liking all, RAVED about the class on using color in design with Bill Kerr.
Then a week after the KCRQF, the Hubs and I took the 9 yr old g-boy (Nikolas) and his 3 yr old brother (Gavin) by train to St. Louis for a quick trip. We had a great, exhausting time. If you are taking kids there (or are a kid at heart and body!) check out the City Museum along with the Arch and a riverboat. Google City Museum--cause I don't have the words to explain it other than saying it''s like dropping into a fairy tale!
While we were in St. Louis (on a riverboat) I received and accepted a very part time position with Mi Co. Medical Center as a water wellness instructor. The class is designed to use very gentle aerobic water exercises in the therapy pool f
or all of us with replacement hips, knees, arthritis, etc. So during July i've been doing all the pre-work orientation , etc. And this week started actually teaching.
Bad part of having the job is less time for quilting--good part is that I'm no longer going to be taking t-shirt quilt orders--so I'll get to spend my quilting time on custom quilting and creating awesome quilts.
Join me? (here's one of my favorite KCRQF quilts!)
