I'm Back!

Nope, I'm not the Terminator! I've been busy over the last 2 months co-teaching Beginner Quilter Classes for the Miami Co. Quilters Guild. We had 25 beginners--all levels! Some had barely operated a machine before, others were already pretty accomplished but wanting to learn improved techniques and have fun with other quilters. We worked through 4 blocks, sashings, borders, machine quilting on their machines and bindings--all in 5 weeks!

We started with the Rail Fence block--what better way to learn about strip sets and that always elusive 1/4" seam! Our 2nd block was Sarah's Choice--a pinwheel in the middle of a star. A great block to learn about half sq. triangles and flying geese. Our next 2 where the Grandmother's Flower Garden and Drunkards Path--some hand-work & applique plus curved seams! We next had a session on sashings and borders. And we finished with a class on pin-basting the actual top, then practicing some machine quilting using our walking foot/regular foot and binding. Voila! They are all now quilters!

Here is a fun quilt I did get done in January for a customer. She always uses such fun fabric that gives a definite modern look to tradtional quilts.
